Freezy Macbones beaten in Olympic Games qualifier

Ghana’s Seth Gyimah, affectionately called Freezy Macbones lost against Seydou Konate of Senegal in a qualification match for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Following his exploits a few months earlier, the UK-based boxer received an invitation to represent Ghana. However, he lost to his opponent in his middleweight (80kg) battle in Dakar, Senegal, dealing him a huge setback in his ambition to represent Ghana at the following Olympic Games.

Gyimah’s normal power punches against his opponent proved ineffective, and Konate used his defensive skills to defeat him in the crucial match.

Despite the disappointment, Freezy MacBones still has a chance to rebound in the playoff, where he could compete against fighters from different continents to go to Paris 2024.

Freezy MacBones gained national recognition after a remarkable display in his bout against Darryl Sharp in the London-based Copper Boxing Arena in April in the build-up to the Joe Joyce vs. Zhilei Zhang bout.

He defeated Sharp by unanimous vote of the judges which he followed with a hilarious interview chronicling his journey to success.
