Luis Suarez agrees to join boyhood club

Luis Suarez, a former striker for Liverpool and Barcelona, claims he has “a preliminary deal” to return to Nacional in his native Uruguay.

The 35-year-old, whose contract with Atletico Madrid expired this summer, is now a free agent.

It is anticipated that Suarez won’t join Nacional again until at least the beginning of the November 2022 World Cup.

He stated in a video posted to social media that the specifics would be worked out and that “we expect to reach the accord we all seek.”

Following their association with the attacker, over 20,000 Nacional supporters donned Suarez masks during a recent game.

In 2005, when he was 18 years old, he made his professional debut for Nacional, helping them win the Uruguayan league title and securing a transfer to Groningen in Europe.

First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude for the overwhelming love and support you have shown to my family and I over the past few days, stated Suarez.

We have a tentative deal with the club, therefore it was now hard to “deny the notion of returning to play for Nacional,” he continued.
