DIRECTOR GENERAL OF EDUCATION SPEAK TO RETREAT BIASED SCHOOLS PLACEMENT

Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Prof Amankwa has been directed to retract his unfortunate school placement comments which can best be described as a discriminatory statement to hurt private school students.

He has been told by the Private Education Coalition to apologise over a statement he made early this week on Asempa FM that students from private schools should be made to sit an entrance test before being given SHS admission.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen show, Prof Opoku-Amankwa said he has petitioned the Ministry of Education to reserve 90% ‘Category A’ school placement for public students instead of the current 30%.

“In our various meetings I have suggested 80% or 90% Category A placement to be allocated to students from public schools and those from private schools be made to write an entrance exam before given admission,” he told Asempa.
